Chicken Diapers

by

Sky (')>

I started making Chicken Diapers in early 2010 and have continued making them for my own chickens as well as my friend's chickens and chickens we meet at the Serama Chicken Shows. Once people see my chickens wearing their chicken diapers, they immediately want to purchase them.

While specializing in "Serama" and other Bantam chicken diapers, I will be gearing up to make chicken dapers for all size chickens.

Please contact me via email at skyponiwii@gmail.com to place your chicken diaper order.

CHICKEN DIAPER INSTRUCTIONS AND HELPFUL TIPS

  • My chicken diapers are very easy to adjust for a comfortable fit. All one needs to do is simply tighten or loosen the Velcro tabs around the tail or across the back.

  • The elastic is used more for its stiffness and ability to stay in place then it is for making adjustments. The elastic should put pressure on the chicken. Some people have asked why I don't cover the elastic. Covering the elastic creates more bulkiness and serves no purpose in my style of chicken diaper. Once the chicken diaper is on, the elastic does not show. Adjusting is done by tightening or loosening the Velcro tabs.

  • My chicken diapers are fully lined. Chicken diapers can be cleaned and re-worn throughout the day by simply emptying the contents into the toilet, wiping out the pouch with a baby wipe, and replacing the diaper on your chicken. I usually place a small piece of paper napkin in the bottom of the pouch to absorb the moisture, thus keeping the waste as dry as possible and making it easier to empty and reuse.

  • Diapers are machine washable by closing all Velcro tabs, placing them in a mesh laundry bag, and washing them with any load of laundry. Diapers are then hung to air dry.

  • Empty the chicken diaper's pouch at least 3 times a day to avoid the waste from building up and getting on the chicken's feathers. This can cause irritation.

  • Chicken diapers should not be worn 24/7. Your chicken needs preening time and time for its bottom to air out. My Serama chicken wears her diaper about 6 hours during the day, she has outside time without her diaper, and sleeps without a diaper at night. You may elect to have your chicken wear a diaper at night; but provide time during the day for it to be diaper free.
